Fix to the cropping issue, 03 Feb 2008
Basically, I am happy with 16, all the graphics are on one disk. Had the cropping issue and found the fix- it does work -just follow these directions:
Crop Feature Functions Erratically
When attempting to crop an image using the Photo Workshop feature included with PrintMasterĀ® 16, the crop takes effect in the incorrect area of the image. This issue occurs when attempting to crop large image files or image files saved using a high DPI (dots per inch) setting. This issue can be resolved by selecting an area effect shape and cropping the image as desired. View the remainder of this note for the procedure.
Complete the following:
Launch PrintMasterĀ® 16 and open a new or existing project.
Add the desired photo image to the project.
Right-click on the image and select Photo Workshop. The Photo Workshop window will appear.
Click the Area Effects tab.
Click the desired shape by "Select a Pre-Set Shape or Draw a Shape." The selected shape will appear on the image.
Click the Crop and Orientation tab.
Click the same shape by "Select a Pre-Set Shape or Click Freehand Crop." The selected shape will appear on the image.
Resize the shape as needed.
Click the Apply Crop button and click OK. The cropped image will appear as expected on the project workspace.

Don't Touch, 09 Jan 2008
I've used printmaster before, and thought wow great product, updated to version 16, DON'T TOUCH, there are so many problems with the software, one minute you are working on you project, and then your picture disappears, then after a couple of mouse clicking re-appears, not to mention the cropping, which doesn't work, it only crops the bottom LHS of your picture, so if you want body parts and no face, great tool. Printmaster used to be straight forward, easy to use, everytime I sit down to work on a project, there is always a problem. I do not recommend this product.
Print Master Platinum 16, 17 Nov 2007
This has no UK A4 size for half fold cards, it leaves a large margin on the right hand side pushing part of the front of the card onto the back. When you contact GSP you are told to put your graphics and text boxes off to the right to compensate, which is a rather hit and miss way of working.
Also when using photocrop the cropped area jumps down to the left on cropping, eventually you find an instruction that it they know about it and it can only crop low quality pictures.
PrintMaster Platinum 16 Technical Note ID: 40365, 25 Jun 2007
Further to the previous review, this is a known problem and if you visit the Broderbund website and enter the technical note ID: 40365 it will bring up instructions on how to rectify the problem.
Symbol Displays in Font List
When viewing the available fonts from the font dropdown window, a symbol appears before the names of some fonts. Attempts to use these fonts for projects created in the program fail. This issue results when foreign language fonts are installed on the system.
PrintMaster platinum 16, 24 May 2007
Be warned this version keeps displaying the message "microsoft error send don't send". However you answer, the program quits to desktop. It is not this individual cd that i have purchased. I accuired another and then found out that this problem is widespread. The problem usually starts when you change to a font with @ in its description. As you scroll down and reach one of these fonts the problem occurs.

I agree with the other reviewer; the online help manual is useless and has instructions that are incorrect. The interface is far from intuitive, and the quality of Clipart images is very low. The program also kept crashing on me, which was very annoying. The software seems to be full of bugs which the company has chosen to ignore. I bought this as a gift for my mum who wanted to create good quality cards, and needless to say, this software has really put her off. Very disappointing indeed! Something fishy...., 10 Feb 2007
On receiving and installing it, I was extremely disappointed. Installation is problematic. The product is not easy to use, and there is no manual or tutorial to help you get started. What instructions there are in the help menu are often incorrect (for example, telling you to select a menu item that does not exist). The image library feature does not work. The bonus CD supposedly contains 20,000 clipart images, but I can find only 100. In fact, I can't really think of any reason to recommend this product, and I will be throwing mine straight into the bin. Fantastic, 17 Mar 2006
You can't go far wrong at nine pounds. Lovely piece of software. Allows you to personalise your cards with a special message, favourite photos, or import clipart images included on the software. Card viewer – does just what it says, you can layout the front, middle and back of your card and once you’re happy with your design, simply send it to your colour printer! Great product, highly recommended

Oil paintings fron digital photo's, 28 Jun 2005
Having read the review in "digital photo art" which ran to three pages, where they thourghly recommended this product, I was not disappointed when the product arrived and I'd installed it. Very clever piece of software allows you to take a digital image and then transform it into a watrecolour, oil painting or a variety of other styles. Take a little time to get used to this and it will be very rewarding. Very good, glad I bought it, I can thourghly recommend.

DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT, 10 May 2007
Having used several Hallmark Greeting Card Software products in the past, which were very easy and quick to use and gave excellent results I found this product so convoluted and difficult that I've gone back to a new 2007 Hallmark programme. As other users point out there is no facility for A4 card, which makes lining up and centering things almost impossible - every new design has to individually adjusted which is frustrating and time consuming....find another product which I'm sure you will get on better with !
PrintMaster Greetings Card Deluxe, 24 Jun 2006
Clearly and correctly listed. Well packaged and promptly despatched. I am pleased with the product.
Good selection of cards but, 18 Mar 2005
I bought this thinking it looked a great replacement for an older card making program I had but no. The selection of cards and projects was brilliant but when I came to use the wizard I had a problem in that it asked me to specify the brand and number of the card I was using fom a list. Mine was not in the list and there was no A4 half fold or quarter fold choice like in most programs I have used so I had problems getting my design to fit my card. This ruined the program for me totally.

Hopeless and useless, 23 Oct 2007
I had exactly the same problem. I was going to make a calendar with my childrens photographs for thier Grandparents for Christmas but once I had designed it all it would not print. I wanted to print on A5 and everytime I set it to A5 it said I had performed an illegal operation and crashed. I was very disappointed with this product.
Printmaster Calendar Creator, 27 Jan 2007
Very frustrating product. There is no way I can print the calendars I have created in colour. The software only recongnises one setting and that is greysacle and draft printing. Any changes made to the printer properties are immediately overidden. This is the only software I have installed that has this problem. Don't buy it!
Calendar Creator 9, 21 Jan 2006
This is an awful product! Although installation on my PC went without a hitch and I have even managed to design a nice looking personalised calendar, it has been impossible to print it. My printer is the excellent Canon iP3000 which prints perfectly from other applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Digital Image Suite. However, when I try to print a calendar with this application it ignores all printer settings such as paper type and print quality. Even when I try to print a calendar to a PDF file Calendar Creator still sends it to my printer. Even accepting that I can’t print on the correct paper type or to the required quality, what does get printed in no way resembles what’s on the screen. For example, the background changes, some items don’t appear and the calendar dates change to show the wrong months and year! I have tried a number of times, but what you get is definitely not what you see. The layout of the dialog forms is poor to the point of looking amateurish and when saving and reloading a calendar the setting for which day the week should start on gets lost. Finally, searching the FAQs on the company’s website they blame the printing problem on a corrupted driver – but how can that be when Calendar Creator is the only product that has these problems. However, soon AFTER installing this software on my PC the printer kept failing to print to CD/DVDs. When I got in touch with Canon they advised me to uninstall and reinstall the labelling program and the printer’s driver. Following their advice I found that reinstalling the labelling program made no difference, but reinstalling the printer's driver fixed the problem. Now the question is, were the problems with Calendar Creator due to a corrupted printer driver – or did Calendar Creator corrupt the driver and cause the problem in the first place? I eventually found that it is possible to get the dates printed correctly, but only if you change the regional setting on your PC to the USA! Also, to print to a printer other than the default one can be achieved by changing the default printer! I most definitely do not recommend this product and have removed it from my PC.

Very disappointing, 20 Mar 2007
If only it worked with Vista!, 27 Jun 2008
This really was a brilliant program, and I have many enhanced pictures on disk to prove it. Sadly, having now progressed(?) to Vista I am unable to use it, and the company has disappeared so no fixes. A sad loss!

Extremely poor, 24 Aug 2008
I bought this as I was manually lining up CD templates in Word and printing out the labels, so I thought a custom build bit of software would make things much simpler. How wrong I was.
I am definitely not a computer novice, but getting this software to print out labels that actually line up with the label paper is almost impossible. I bought standard sized label stationery, 2 labels per page, but this size was not in the pre-defined set of labels. Ok, so I thought I'd create my custom one - impossible. Nothing you can do with any setting actually does anything to change the alignment.
Avoid this product at all costs. A total waste of money.

Decent collection for web design, but too bothersome to use., 27 May 2007
GSP PhotoArt comes on 3 CDs. Upon installation all 50,000 photos are left behind on the CDs with only thumbnail versions being loaded onto your PC. A bespoke application is used to search through the thumbnails and preview the photos.
My screen is a 21" monitor at 1680x1050 resolution and the thumbnails are quite small and not very good at helping me to decide if a photo is suitable. The thumbnails are not re-sizable: one size fits all. Like it or lump it.
So, click on the thumbnail to see the full photo and you're prompted to insert the right CD so that the photo can be viewed. Wait for CD to spin up and the photo appears. You could see this as a neat, helpful request. Or, when searching for a particular sort of photo, can see this as a nagging "change to this CD, no change to that CD, no put the original CD in now" and so on. The collections are spread seemingly randomly across several CDs too - so concentrating just on one category (eg "People") doesn't keep the application from asking you to insert different CDs. Quite annoying.
I'd ignore the superlatives ("Stunning collection") in the description if I were you. Photo quality is good, but image size is a bit pants with most photos being quite small (around 300x200 pixels). Not sure how the package blurb "select your own print resolution for high quality print results" could be substantiated by a 300x200 image. It's quite amazing how one still cannot find suitable photos in 50,000 images, though.
The application comes with some basic preparation tools (crop, resize, flip etc) which allow you to prepare the image before you drag and drop it into your application (eg word processor).
It's a good collection of photos with some semi-helpful manipulation tools but is technically implemented quite badly and not designed for any semi-professional use (eg your small-business's website). You get what you pay for. Give it to your kid for his birthday.
Be careful, 20 Mar 2007
This product does have 50,000 photos but they are small, if you export them to any size over 2 inches wide then they are terribly distorted. If that doesn't matter to you then this product is fine, if it does matter (and it does to me) then maybe you should look elsewhere.
