THis caused us enormous problems. See our full review in upgrade 2009 - we returned to 2008 as all 5 of our systems failed using this product. I will be avoiding it.
Does what it says on the tin, 24 Oct 2008
I've been using Norton products for a very long time, and they have never let me down. On older machines, Norton is likely to slow them down, but newer ones seem more than able to deal with it. I have seen virtually no slow down in processing speed.
It is a bit tricky getting the second and third PC protected if you have bought the product online, as you have to wind our through the menus to find that option to download it.
I find that Norton will start a system scan to check for viruses etc every so often, and this can slow things down a little. You do have the option to pause, stop or ignore the scan and you can always start one whenever you wish.
Bottom line: simple to download, install and run; and, your system is protected.

At first i tried a couple of times to install the norton 360v2.0 but all attempts failed..it was really fustrating to the point that i was keen on returning the software back, but i decided to seek tech support which was a bit long but successful.I highly recommend this software...
Excellent Piece, 17 Aug 2008
Provides excellent internet security, free updates, user friendly and more and more features... Easy to install even though it takes some more time than the previous product. But it covers more area and therefore it overcomes that deficit. It gives maximum security and I highly recommend this product. I actually purchased the version 1 nearly 7 months back but recently it has been upgraded free to version 2 by Norton! ...Great news!!
One of the Best, 15 Aug 2008
This is an excellent package. It works well and covers everything that you need for peace of mind and protection. I like the backup facility, which doesn't take long as once its done the first backup only backs up changes from then on. Checking what 360 has done while your not at your computer is ease and lets you manualy do things if you want.
Increasingly impressed, 09 Jul 2008
I upgraded from Norton 360 to V2 on the internet and first experienced difficulties other users have reported elsewhere - problems with internet explorer and getting it on a second PC. However, their customer support were first class in sorting out my problems and now, for the first time ever, I have internet protection that doesn't slow my computer and actually does provide a fast boot up.
A decent Upgrade, 10 Jun 2008
Upgraded my Norton Antivirus and got a very good price. Very happy with its utility and a smooth operator! Decent anti virus, firewall, ID protection and PC tune up. Very handy back-up/restore function too. Well worth paying a few more pounds over and above basic anti-virus/firewall packages.

With caution - or why we went back to 2008, 11 Nov 2008
be careful. We installed this onto 5 systems. 4 in a mini network and 1 laptop. the laptop had a different configuration to the other 4 systems. All four systems had problems especially when we installed this onto the system acting as a server. ONce we did this we had drives failing, drive inaccessible, and systems grounding to a halt. the laptop which is a really simple set up failed immediately and when you used an external drive it threw up errors requesting a fdd drive.
We have returned to our old 2008 product and bingo its all back runnning fine. I'd avoid upgrading if I was you. I have no idea what is causing the problems but something is and it could be terminal for someone who uses lots of products on a system or uses lots of external drives.

Totally Disgusted, 26 Sep 2008
I have used Norton products for ten years and have always thought that they are the best despite a few problems along the way. A year ago I purchased Norton Internet Security 2007 and since then Norton gave me a free download of the 2008 version. This year (as always) it is more expensive to buy a boxed product than simply renew the subscription - CRAZY !!! But every year I buy the new product, so I already have a new boxed Internet Security 2008 to install in a few days time.
HOWEVER,I have recently been having a few problems, and every time I scan my computer I find viruses - today there were two Trojan Horses that were zipped in e.mail spam, and a Downloader virus. The first two were dealt with, the latter can't be dealt with - I have to get rid myself.
I have e.mailed Norton twice asking why a scan picks these up when Internet Security does not identify them as they are downloaded. First time I got a long reply telling me how to update everything (constantly done). Now I am told that Norton Tech Support can't help with this at all, I have to use their PAID SERVICE - QUOTE -
I am unable to provide assistance with Virus/Spyware related issues, but I will be happy to direct you to Symantec's virus removal resources. We have a dedicated team of technicians specialized in detecting and removing Virus/Spyware and they provide assistance through Chat and Phone. Please note that this is a fee-based service.
So I spend £40 on Norton Internet Security, which doesn't work, and then I have to PAY to ask WHY it doesn't work. Go elsewhere. I certainly will, even if I have to waste the money I have spent for the next year.
User beware!, 01 Jun 2008
Loading this "upgrade" removed all the antispam and parental controls set with my previous package. Had to go into Symantec's website to download their "free" add-on pack to remedy that little problem (without access to broadband, as I live in a rural area, this process took over 2 hours). Also, when you run the updates it immediately goes to express mode, and if you want interactive mode so you can choose what new updates to load you have to go through the Windows Start menu rather than the Symantec window!!! All the new graphics were totally unnecessary. Very poor product development.
Listen to your customers - its not gimme the money & run!, 26 May 2008
As a product and what is does I would rate this product 5 star, but some continung annoyances by the manufacturer leave me to downgrade the 2008 product - and with less than a month to go until my very expensive 'subscription' expires I too will be looking elsewhere. I never have experienced problems loading Norton's products, even the on-line switch from their site from 2007 to 2008, so guys I am not sure what you're doing wrong!
The user interface has slowly gotton worse and I am fed up with a lack of ability to customize and I echo another reviewers annoyance at not being able to turn off the program from the desktop. It's also tedious trying to get to the Firewall to check which programs are/are not given access. Also, the big gripe that has been echoed for years is Norton's use of our computers resources and the slowing effect it has....though I read somewhere that this problem may have, at last, been addressed.
I'm afraid Norton, in general, is as arrogant as its big brother, Microsoft when it comes to its customers. Just as Lotus 123 (remember that?) got left behind I am sure I am not alone in seeing a big shift away from people like Norton and Microsoft as oter developers meet the actual needs of customers and stop making change for change's sake. Listen to your customers!
Look Elsewhere This is a Disaster, 07 May 2008
Used the three licence version for a year OK, but when the time came to extend the period it trashed my laptop. Searched for solutions on the web but none were effective. I would not recommend this piece of software to my worst enemy.
Spent many hours returning my laptop to day one and then re-installing my software and the last backup. I will never even consider Norton again.
SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, 18 Apr 2008
Try and save your money as this really is a shoddy and awfull piece of software, I don't know how Symantic have the gaul to even think of releasing this. Even if you have a high spec PC, it will still slow the performance of your computer.

Product Description
Symantec AntiVirus Multi-Tier Protection for Small Business is a comprehensive, easy-to-manage security solution, providing superior virus protection for your entire network. With Symantec defending your network and email servers, desktops, and Internet gFilled your C: partition, but still have plenty of room on D:? Want to run Linux and Windows on the same PC? You need PartitionMagic 8 PartitionMagic is a lot more than a simple partitioning tool for hard drives these days. Not that changing your partitions without damaging the data in them is a particularly easy procedure, just that it might seem that way. In fact, PartitionMagic 8 can repartition your hard drive, set up multiple operating systems and even perform scheduled backups to protect your data. The core program, which can be run from Windows or in DOS mode directly from a boot floppy, enables you to change the size of existing partitions, create new ones, merge two into one and so on. This is all achieved in a logical and straightforward way, using a new group of Wizards and with a number of safety checks to make sure you do what you intend. Any of the changes you make, happen without any disturbance to the data you already have on your hard drive. The program can handle IDE and SCSI hard drives and in this new version adds external drives linked to USB2 or FireWire ports. You need quite a bit of memory in your PC to run the program--128 MB in Windows XP, for example. BootMagic is bundled with Partition Magic 8 and is a well-featured boot manager which enables you to install several different operating systems on your PC and switch between them at start-up. You can include versions of Windows and other operating systems such as Linux available on the same PC, though the documentation is a little sketchy on exactly which operating systems it supports. --Simon Williams

Can't live without, 25 Feb 2004
One of those necessities. I don't have a virus scanner but this product I can't live without. You will need this - sometimes!, 03 Nov 2003
If you are dealing with modern operating systems (like Windows XP) and moderns computers having huge disks you will end up - at one time or another! - with the need of putting data to one side, placing the operating system to another place and perhaps you'll want to install yet another OS. This is exactly what Partition Magic is exellent to do. Compared with version 7.0 there is not too much new here, except that the wizards are better, the help text a bit tighter and better in some places and the tutorials are fine. Also some errors has been fixed. And of course, the thing that urges you to upgrade to this version is due to the changes done to the disk subsystems of Windows XP and Linux since the last version. This is simply put a product I won't be without.

Customer Reviews
treat with caution - see full review on upgrade 5 users version, 11 Nov 2008
Didnt work properly., 13 Oct 2008
It made my computer really slow and i had to reboot it. I havnt a clue why this happend but i wont risk installing it again. 30 quid thrown in the bin. i'd rather have a virus ridden com than have this antivirus running on it! hats off, at last!!, 22 Sep 2008
after an unsatisfactory trial with Kaspersky I decided on a simple antivirus, this is good, very good, its quiet, the pc runs quickly and smoothly and it even monitors my wireless network. Happy to buy this. Worth a serious look if you don't need a full suite. Well done it's taken a few years mind you but I think they have cracked it at Symantec! Ill be watching very closely if the virus and spyware is better, 2008 suite installed on my new laptop missed a trojan here and there so well see if this is better, but certainly from a running point of view it's spot on! happy at the end!!, 05 Sep 2008

No technical help, 05 May 2008
A soon as I loaded this software problems started. The instructions are not very clear so perhaps I did something wrong, but things started happening like the firewall being turned of, or error messages saying that the disk on the destination drive had a problem. Now, to start up Save & Restore, takes about 15 minutes; although the first back up worked fine, since then it tells me that it hasn't created a back up point; when I tried to make a system restore disk ( Save & Restore said the restore disk supplied was lacking 2 drivers) the whole computer crashed in error messages about Driver Mining failed... The instruction manual did not explain anything so I went on the Symantec "Chat Helpline". The "technician" took over control of my computer, spent 1hour 45 minutes uninstalling and installing Save & Restore remotely; this made no difference so she rebooted the system and while I could see nothing she typed in "my response" that I was happy that everything was now OK and she "left the room".
I now have a set of software which I am uncertain as to whether it works or not and no help available from Norton. I would not recommend buying software from this company.
