WOW - I created a professional looking website homemagic4u, 30 Jul 2008
In todays world we don't really expect to get much for our money especially if someone tells you that you can create a professional website all under 100 pounds sterling. However, this is exactly what you get from Mr Site - I created my website homemagic4u using Mr Site that left me shocked of how similar in contrast and professionalism it was with other MAJOR online retailers that spend thousands and you don't have to take my word for it as the Mr Site directory is living proof of its popularity which continually adds new sites everyday.Mr Site (PC/Mac)
Poor customer experience, 19 Jun 2008
I have to say that I was initially recommended this product by a 3rd party and for the purposes that it was needed for seemed to make sense.
I created the site that I needed, wasn't the easiest user experience I have to say.
The issues started when I tried to edit the pages that I had created. Mr Site support was not particularly helpful and to be honest were at times quite patronising and full of excuses. The main problem was that although the site was up, attempting to edit the pages was impossible because the content was blank. This happeded on more than one occassion.
After 12 months of to-ing an fro-ing with them, my patience with the inflexibility of the product, the lack of proper customer service etc led me to move to another hosting partner who seemed to exhibit the sort of professionalism that you would expect from people taking your money.
We are currently in the process of attempting to rectify our final issue with Mr Site relating to a secondary domain transfer. Their support guys are uncommunicative, unhelpful and do not deliver on the promises that they make.
Do the best that you can and steer well clear of these guys.

Arghhh!, 06 May 2008
This has to be the most infuriating software I've ever used. I have to warn you that this program is filled with bugs, if you want to do anything other than simple blogging or like me, are indecisive and will want to change the background regularily, be warned! Sometimes fonts dont work, currently some of my text refuses to change size for no reason at all and if you EVER edit ANY of the text on a gallery page that is not part of the gallery, say the introduction explaining what the gallery is of, then it forgets all your pictures have titles and they disappear. You have the option of showing pictures in three types of ways, one is plain ugly and of the other two one won't allow any text to be under your images. There also isn't a spellcheck, which seems like an obvious thing to have to me?
These I promise are just a few of the most annoying problems with what is a really good idea. I have emailed their own program bug catcher but have recieved nothing but the crudest of responses... "have you tried changing the size of the font?".. Of course I have. I have built websites before from scratch in much more complex programs than this, these aren't my stupid mistakes and I'm not alone in finding them.
Arghhhh!
Cheap - but limited, 21 Apr 2008
If you're looking for something that doesn't cost the earth but delivers a decent looking website then this is the package for you. I've only rated it 3 stars as functionality is limited.
Firstly, you have to have a menu down the side of your page, this shows on every page you have on your site. I wanted a different menu on one page but you can't do this - also you can't have a sub-menu on a sub-menu.
Also, if you decide you want your pages in a different order the 'shuffle' functionality is a nightmare. I'm still not 100% sure how it works and spent most of a day shuffling pages around. When I eventually got the pages in the sort of order I wanted I found that the hyperlinks in them weren't carried over - so basically the hyperlinks now pointed to the wrong pages. Very frustrating.
Additionally, the header creation page always locks up on me, both on my Mac and my PC.
The email package is OK, not great functionality and not much space but it does the job. At the end of the day you can forward emails onto your own mail package and they have a tutorial to show you how to do this.
All that said I've still managed to create a semi professional looking site and it is easy to understand. The book that accompanies the pack and the tutorials on YouTube are helpful. If you're new to creating websites and you want something cheap and easy then I would recommend this.

Superb Piece Of Software, 03 Sep 2008
WebSite X5 Evolution (PC)
Only received my copy yesterday {2nd September 08}and as it says on the box totally easy to use and simple easy instructions to follow. I have started to tell my friends about this software.
I have tried 4 other types of website building software and this one just blows them all away.
Well pleased is an understatement.
Give it a try.

Most user friendly website tool ever, 10 Aug 2008
Over the years I have struggled with a variety of website creation applications from Dreamweaver to Front Page and found all of them either overly complex or confusingly structured. So it was with not a lot of enthusiasm that I approached a new one. What a surprise was in store for me.
Here was a program which that was actually easy to use, allowed you to instantly correct errors, permitted you to work entirely off line and was genuinely WYSIWYG. Best of all the end result actually looks professional. With this tool you can get a very slick and impressive looking website up there in minutes.
The Good:
Very simple to use
Genuinely WYSIWYG in operation
Inexpensive
Good looking results very quickly
Very active support site and forum
The Bad:
Websites can similar to each other
Restricted to working within a small screen window
Adding external code can be tricky.
No option to import an existing website
If you have no coding experience and want to get a good looking website online quickly without tearing your hair out - look no forther.
Ten stars, if there were that many to give!, 04 Aug 2008
I agree with everything in Michele's review (27 December 2007)! This is a FANTASTIC program and I would highly recommend it to anyone who needs a website and has even a minimum knowledge of computers. Please give it a try before spending hundreds of pounds for someone else to do it for you (or not even finish it, as in my case!) I have never written a review before, but this product deserves it - I would give it ten stars if I could!
I spent a year trying to get my own website up and going - I hired two different "professional" website builders and lost two substantial deposits, but the job was never finished. I wasn't asking for a fancy website, I just wanted a clean professional site to showcase my artwork! But I was told by the "professionals" that every little detail (such as shadowing under words, etc) would take more time and money, and that I would not be able to update or change things on the website myself - that would incur even more charges!
Finally, in desperation, I decided to try doing it myself. I did my research and then ordered "WebSite X5 Evolution" from Amazon. In three days, I finished a beautiful website (The Art of Domini Deane) - and it is one that I have total control over - no payments to a web builder every time I need to update or change anything, I just do it all myself! I haven't even set up the shopping cart elements, as I don't need them yet, but it will be simple to do when I am ready. And all for the one-time price of this software! Thank you Amazon and thank you WebSite X5 Evolution!
Ideal 1st website builder, 28 Jul 2008
What a lovely piece of kit, I'd never built a site before but feel quite confident with most computer applications. The other reviews helped make my mind up and I wasn't disappointed.
I did find one or two small issues which were easily over come but nothing to worry a novice with. There doesn't seem to be a feature button to go from one page to the next but maybe it's just my inexperience.
I also built an imaginary site to start with as a practice, which I found helpful in avoiding any mistakes with the real one. All this is of course done off-line.
A super program at a good price 9/10.
Easy, simple, loaded with extras, Best software so far., 09 Jul 2008
I tried this as a demo and created a partial website with great looking menus, pages with templates, transitions. I had no experience at all with web building and made a great looking partial site. So easy and simple to do, no need to learn any html. I dont usually buy any software but this I had to part money with.
I have tried so many others even the really expensive dreamweaver which is totally over rated and had problems and confilcts with it. I have played with this on XP Pro and Windows Vista Ultimate, works great.
You could create a quick site in a few days and a really good one in a month or two, depending on your free time.

Very disappointed after hearing good things about WebPlus 10, 20 Aug 2008
Very simply, purchased this on the back of some excellent reviews here and elsewhere, and while i agree you might be able to create a new site very quickly it is not very straightforward if you already have websites (different one too that need to be managed separately) and wish to use this to edit / maintain them.
I am back to square one now as I need to have something in place to keep on top of my needs and those of the people who I support.
Might just be better off back with Frontpage.
Websites untangled - great software for non HTML experts, 10 Aug 2008
This software is just I what I was looking for. I've been struggling with html and css for months. Positioning elements properly took ages to work out but when I looked in another browser my carefully worked out design was all jumbled up. I never got the results I wanted.
Serif WebPlus X2 is very simple to use. You can use the templates to create a professional looking site in a few hours and if you have some experience of html then you can insert specific instructions into your pages very easily. What I like most about WebPlus X2 is that it's wysiwyg. Previously, I'd take an educated guess at what mark up I'd need for a given result and then have to view it in another programme. Anally retentive programmers probably learn reams of code off by heart to circumvent this but, me, I've got better things to do. With WebPlus X2 you can see what you're doing while you're doing it. You can also view your work in different browsers if you really want to check.
WebPlus X2 seems to be designed with people like me in mind. We know what we want to achieve but don't have the budget to employ an html/css coder or the time to bring our expertise up to their level. In addition to vastly reducing the time and expense that it would take to accomplish the same result by any other means, WebPlus X2 gives you the benefit of many presentational tricks that would take years of programming experience to achieve. My re-vamped site has already drawn favourable comments about its better navigation, layout and graphical design, all achieved in a fraction of the time thanks to WebPlus X2.
Fine if you don't need to look under the surface, 04 Aug 2008
This product produces very flashy (no pun intended) Websites very easily - you can look like a pro in next to no time. The problem is the way that the software actually puts the pages together. In order to cope with the range of browsers, screen resolutions and other issues affecting Web design, this software creates incredibly complex html behind the scenes - far more complex than it needs to be for the actual pages that you create. This makes maintenance of the Website next to impossible unless you are using the same software all the time.
This is great software if you are creating a Website for fun, but if you are looking at creating an online business or more long-term online project, I'd recommend learning how to do it yourself.
Not much better than the previous version, 04 Aug 2008
I love Serif software and usually never have a bad word to say about it, but I don't think this version of Webplus is that much better than the previous one to make it worth upgrading to if you have that already. It is certainly as good in the site building area and the templates available are excellent, but I didn't find the new feature - being able to import your site back in so it doesn't need to be completely rebuilt if you have no back up - worked very well.
The other problem I found was in backing up the site to an external hard drive to save loss of work in the event of a system failure. I did copy and paste on the saved file as is usual, but found I could lose the site properties when I pressed paste. That could be a Windows problem though as Webplus X2 wasn't even open. I just got round it by pressing save as from in the program twice, once on to my hard drive and once on to the external hard drive. That worked fine.
All in all I am not disappointed. I was able to build my site and upload it easily and that's all I wanted to be able to do. All programs have little hiccups.

Great for Would be Designers & Professionals alike, 08 Jun 2008
I can't praise this product enough. If you are looking to create state of the art websites with CSS, etc. then Dreamweaver is the software to own. All the hard coding is done for you well you use the design view to add anything you desire.
I have a lot to do to my sites yet but I managed to create and publish my very first webpage within 2 days of uploading the software to my computer. It downloaded on Windows Vista Home Premium within 10 minutes with no problems at all.
Just a tip for beginners, check out YouTube for Dreamweaver CS3 Tutorials. You will learn all the basics there and it beats any manual or book.
What are you waiting for! Buy it!, 28 May 2008
I bought Dreamweaver CS3 six months ago after only having gained a rudimentary knowledge of how to build websites from books. I knew what I wanted to build and at first I attempted to use other web building software packages which were far cheaper than Dreamweaver CS3 but which turned out to be far more complicated and time consuming to use and which to be honest were a total waste of money!
Dreamweaver CS3 installed on my Vista PC without any problems and I was soon up and running. From the outset I found all the menus extremely intuitive and marvelled at how quickly I was able to build web pages which looked highly professional. I was also impressed with the way Dreamweaver could check my pages for broken links and other errors which would normally be extremely time consuming to find. Indeed I was so impressed with Dreamweaver that I invested in Photoshop CS3 which I found worked seemlessly with Dreamweaver CS3 and made editing pictures for the website alot easier.
Therefore whether you are an amateur or a professional Dreamweaver CS3 is the best software for building great websites. Dreamweaver CS3 is not a cheap product but in this case it is true that you get what you pay for and what you get with Dreamweaver CS3 is a whole lot of product for your money.
This is still the best - but its way to pricey, 12 May 2008
Dreamweaver is still the best web design app out there, especially when combined with Fireworks. For designers who are a bit shaky with code (like me!), it is great and there isn't much you can't achieve with it. My only criticism is that it is way too expensive for what it is. Fine - £400 isn't much if you are going to make lots of money with it, but for occasional use, it is expensive. Also, it isn't the most user friendly app. There is a steepish learning curve to get to grips with it.
Alot of my working time these days is spent on a Mac and I tend to use the excellent Freeway Express package which is nice to use and does pretty much all I want or need - for only £60! There are similar packages out there from the likes of Serif for the PC.
You can't not recommend Dreamweaver, but I would recommend checking out the easier to use and cheaper alternatives first. They maybe all you need.
BTW - it would have 5 stars if the price was better
Could not install successfully on Windows Vista., 09 May 2008
I could not manage to get this product successfully installed. I work in software myself, so am computer literate, but after six hours of trying I could not get it installed, despite following published tips and work-arounds from Adobe. I was left with a mysterious "Internal error 2203", but no clue as to how to fix this. Worse, this left the product half installed, so that it would not even uninstall cleanly, without running a special clean-up script. For £400 I expect better. I have now given up and am using Microsoft Expression Web instead, which installed in five minutes.
Do not buy this in the UK, 10 Jan 2008
If you buy it in the US (or from a US store) you will save around 150 to 200 pounds. Adobe are ripping you off.

THE DISAPPEARING FILES, 08 May 2008
i was not very happy with this site,my files and photos kept appearing and then disappearing for no reason at all.i was not given a reason for this,
needless to say it was my fault.
i did not even manage to finish my site because of this problem which kept occuring.i have asked for my money back,we,ll see if that is forthcoming.

Fantastic Web Building software to start with, 31 Jul 2008
I have got to say that this is a great and easy peace of software for people to start off with. I have used other web building software and I gave up on them after a week because I thoght my head was going to explode. But mr site is full proof. And the support team are out of this world they are so helpfull. I have just gone out and bought anouther 3.
If you are going to buy it dont wait order it now from Amazon.
A love affair with Mr Site., 02 Jun 2008
I bought mr site from amazon a few weeks ago. being a computer thicko, i was concerned that I would be confused, out of my depth and end up throwing mr site and pc out of the nearest window.
However, that was not the case at all, within a couple of hours I had most of my website finished and within a day I was ready to go.
It's simple, easy to follow and doesn't patronise you. As the weeks have gone by I have gained the courage to try the more elaborate features and haven't broken it once.
My site looks pretty darn good too and you would never tell that it was made by a total amateur who struggles to work the food blender!
Mr Site is my new love and I'm so impressed I'm buying another one.
Great budget site , 27 May 2008
I have had my Mr Site website for a while now and have had no major problems and any minor ones were sorted out quickly by their customer support.
It's not a site for those who know how to design sites themselves as there are other avenues that can give those people more options & I don't think Mr Site was ever designed for them. It is however brilliant for those of us who want a web presence on a budget that you can have control over. I turned to Mr Site after having paid a web designer a fancy price for a website, that took ages to materialise and then I had to keep paying them every time I wanted an amendment such as adding new stock! Mr Site has more than paid for itself for what I want and at less than £100 per year for the pro version it was basically set up within 24 hours, I can add stock whenever I want and put up whatever special promotion or links I want to without having to wait ages & pay through the nose for it to be done......yes I have to put my own time into it but adding stock takes minutes whereas with the professionally designed site it was at least days if not weeks before it was done in which time I could have been selling the stock.
A website can also look slick if it's just a simple site that you want providing you stay with a classic simple style template.
The problems seem to arise (talking to other users) when more experienced designers add extra features or already have artwork for logos as Mr Site is designed as a cheap website presence for those of us who know little or nothing about web design.
Other reviewers are right in that you can't back up the website but then I paste copies of each page into word documents & keep records of the options I used when setting up so incase I make a hash of something I can just copy the pages back in which I am prepared to expend the time to do because it is a cheap website presence that gives me control even with my limited level of computer knowledge.
I wholeheartedly recommend it as a first step at web pesence for those who don't know about web design & ideal for community groups, bands, event organisers and individual artists & photographers who need a basic portfolio showcase to direct customers to.
Great value for money!
Simple to use, professional results!, 12 May 2008
The package is very easy to use and you can get professional looking results really quickly. I had a problem with my Anti-Virus blocking popups but this was resolved quickly when I contacted Mr Site Team! They are really helpful!
Fab for my business, 12 May 2008
Mr Site has been my saviour! I wanted to set up a shop for my clothes store and was quoted thousands. My friend told me about Mr Site, used it herself and was raving about it, so I thought I'd give it a go. I couldn't be happier. It looks really professional, no one can believe I made it myself. The shop is easy to use and I've noticed that my site has moved up Google after I'd used the Siteboost tools. Any little questions I had were answered really quickly by the support team. Don't throw your money at a Web Designer, do it yourself with Mr Site because the results really are good. I'll be recommending this to all my mates.

The best professional development tool out there,, 24 Aug 2008
Normally a new release of a development environment is just a small number of enhancements and a few minor changes to the language features. With this release of Visual Studio Microsoft have almost created an entirely new experience for the developer. Core language enhancements such as LINQ and extension methods combined with major changes to the tools such as IntelliSense for JavaScript make this a must have version of this already great development environment.
Ten reasons to upgrade to this version:
1. Work with data in a unified and integrated way (LINQ)
- Be more productive by using a single approach to querying and manipulating data that's integrated with the way you write code -- in the programming language.
- Use a single model to query and transform XML, SQL Server and object data with Language-Integrated Query, helping you focus on what you need the data to do rather than how you are going to access the data.
2. Work with user interface designers (Common Project Format with Expression products)
- Share user interface assets, such as design elements and controls, with graphic designers that use Microsoft Expression: both Microsoft Expression Web (ASP.NET) and Microsoft Expression Blend (WPF) are supported.
3. Employ the latest web user interface techniques
- New support for web server communication techniques for AJAX/JSON-enabled websites.
b. New ASP.NET controls that allow for better page management and templates.
- Native support for RSS and REST by the Windows Communication Foundation.
4. Build stunning applications for windows vista (improved WPF and Smart Client tools)
- Build powerful Windows-based applications that take | | |
